Short Bio
Mark Sherwood-Edwards is a B2B tech lawyer on a mission to eliminate sloppy, lazy, not-value-for-money lawyering. He is the author of the forthcoming How Law Firms Get It Wrong: Faster, Smarter Legals for the C-suite, is a regular podcast guest, writes a weekly newsletter on legal/business issues and is a respected senior player in the tech world.
Some areas of expertise that I enjoy discussing:
sales-side lawyers and how are they different to other lawyers,
why law firms don’t work/lawyer dysfunction,
GCCQ (Good Contracts Closed Quickly) – how to set up your contracts so that they close quickly + SCP (Sales-Contracting Process) – the sales-contracting process,
understanding how contracts work,
how to end up with good contracts (internal process, external process),
the difference between a seller’s view of a contract, and the buyer’s view,
the 3 phases of negotiating power, and how to use them to your advantage,
copyright, and why today’s courts and lawmakers don’t understand the economic function of IP at all,
how to negotiate effectively with a procurement department,
contract negotiation in general, and
data – understanding how it works from a legal and contractual perspective.
